Oral Health Checklist
Did you know that if your oral health is not in good shape that it could affect your overall health? Taking good care of your teeth and gums simply requires you to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day. When you do not brush and floss on a regular schedule plaque will begin to build up on your teeth, which is just the beginning of the many oral problems that can happen. In order for you to avoid all of the many oral health problems that can occur and need to be avoided for your overall good health, making an oral checklist can be extremely beneficial.
Oral hygiene checklist
The following oral health checklist is one that everyone should follow. All it takes for someone to be in good oral health is to follow a few well-established guidelines that are in place with a specific purpose of supporting one's oral health, which is going to in turn support their overall good health.
Brush teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush using a fluoride toothpaste. Brushing gently for at least 2 minutes is recommended in order to be sure that every tooth is thoroughly cleaned. Brushing the tongue for a few seconds when done brushing the teeth is also a good idea.
Floss after eating, every time. While most recommendations say to floss once or twice a day, gently flossing after every time one eats is going to immediately remove any food particles that may be stuck in between the teeth.
Make an appointment with an experienced dentist about every six months are so for an oral examination. This is the perfect time for dental patients to ask their dentist any questions they have about their oral health. A dental cleaning will also be done at this time, which makes the teeth feel super clean and super smooth.
Drinking plenty of fluids, preferably water, is the best way to stay hydrated. Staying hydrated helps to flush away any harmful bacteria in the mouth, as well as helping to prevent dry mouth.
Avoiding eating unhealthy foods is also recommended for good oral health. Foods in particular to avoid include foods that contain a lot of sugar or that are super sticky. Sugar is a substance that bacteria feed on, which can make a current oral problem much worse. Sticky foods are difficult to remove from the teeth and are a common reason for tooth decay, as is eating too many sugary foods.
